The latest edition of Damon Krukowski's newsletter, Dada Drummer Almanach, is well worth reading. Apparently a lot of people are buying tickets to shows and then not going. Personally, I haven't been to a show since February 2020. I'm not even tempted; I'm like the character in a horror movie who looks down a long tunnel or a staircase into darkness and just says, "Nope." It's a really weird feeling.

Strangers on a Train

Dada Drummer Almanach
@burningambulance About half the shows I've gotten tickets for in the last two years I've not gone to. All depends on the day and what things feel like in general now.
@nedraggett Ultimately, what it comes down to is, the risk is probably acceptably low for me, but very high for the immunocompromised (and therefore unvaccinated) person I live with. So that's that.
@burningambulance On that front, you are completely utterly correct in your approach.
@nedraggett I've had this discussion with other folks and they've said, in effect, "So you're just gonna be this careful *forever* [implied eyeroll emoji]?" And I say, "Yeah, because that's what 'till death do us part' means."
@burningambulance What? An actual formal commitment to somebody and the resultant due care and support that implies? What magic, etc.
