I'm seeing a growing clash between people who want content warnings on political content and news and people who very much don't. I fall into the latter category: The idea that political content and news should be hidden for the betterment of the community is antithetical to my values. That said, if that's the norm here and it doesn't reduce the impact that news, in particular, is meant to have, then I'm fine with CWs. Thoughts?
@couts people can curate their own account viewing to filter out things they don’t wish to see. Telling marginalized people that we need to “content warn” our own existence because it makes someone else uncomfortable is not the sign of a healthy community and is one of multiple big reasons I don’t really feel like Mastodon is going to be a safe community for me.

@teaberryblue @couts

I'd like to have a better sense of how this is working because I'm preparing to write and share things in the hopes of reaching a sympathetic audience and I'm really hoping that this time I don't get even more marginalized as a result. Please advise, and thanks!

@sarahnicolosi @couts honestly I just swapped to hive instead
