@larthallor probably not sure, but the site I joined is all about worshipping Democrats and hating Republicans and I was under the impression that Mastodon was going to be ok with everyone. So I want to find the server/instance/whatever for people that are cool with all types of humans.
@chiefboner I don’t see anything in your posts that indicates you’ve been the subject of abuse. 11 hours ago you said you were happy here and staying. 🤷♂️
Anyway, Mastodon has a server directory that you probably already know about.

And here is how you can filter the content you see, regardless of instance.
@chiefboner I don’t know if the server instance you want exists yet. In the meantime, you may want to follow people (on any server) who do not stress you out and stick to reading just your Home timeline, avoid the local and federated firehoses.
Another tip is to follow hashtags. If there is some content you are interested in, like “military” or “air force” or “hunting”, you can follow those tags so that content appears in your Home timeline.
@larthallor how do you follow hashtags? I haven't figured that part out yet.
@chiefboner To the right of the hashtag in the Mastodon web client when you search, there should be a + button you can use to follow it.

@chiefboner Turns out it is a very new feature, only released a few days ago. Presumably, the phone clients will catch up.
@chiefboner If it makes any difference to you, while the follow/unfollow button is only present in the new web clients for now, the posts for the hashtags you follow there will show up in your timeline on the app, as well. So, you can subscribe once with the web app and then read forever with just the phone app.
Your hosting server also has to be on the latest version (v4.0.2) that supports the feature, but mastodon.world already is.
@larthallor I never said I had been abused, so not why you jumped to that conclusion. No one has been negative and I have very thick skin and am married to probably the most liberal democrat in the world. I have no issue with liberals or Democrats in general. I also don't have a problem with conservatives or Republicans but so far, the bulk of what has come through my feed is all very left leaning. Just think it would be nice to see posts from all kinds of humans.
