Cochrane Review of of 13 trials and 37,000 women showered no difference in death rates, no difference in CP rates between efm and IA. However the IA groups indicated a higher rate of begin infant seizures in neonatal period. The EFM group indicated an increased rate of instrumental births AND an increased risk of C BIRTH. So people have to be supported to make a fully informed choice

661 women need to be continuously monitored to prevent 1 seizure. This in turn will result in 11 unnecessary C- births.
