Most atheists are quite quiet about it. Some atheists are very active in discussing their atheism online.

How do typical atheists and very online atheists differ? On some things (basic personality), not much. On other things (intergroup attitudes), lots.

Caveats abound, but I wrote a thing about some recent survey results. Enjoy!

The few, the loud: How ‘very online atheists’ differ from other atheists

Most atheists hold far less polarized views than do the most visible atheists online. But online atheists fuel the stereotype.

@wgervais
I might ask, how are typical x (nonvocal?) different from very online x?

People have different root causes for their positions. My atheism came from a quiet realization. My partner came to it out of tragedy.

Neither of us are Hitchens.

I think Hitchens would have been a blistering preacher had it gone differently.
