FYI I'm not ever gonna CW anything about my experiences of oppression. CWs aren't for your cis fagility. You should feel uncomfortable knowing that people are trying to kill me.
@arri content warnings are for the weak
@nulltipotentialite they're useful. But they're not for minorities hiding their oppression from those with privileged.
@arri What do those with privilege have to do with it if most of them aren't causing the oppression?
@arri
I am always so torn about this. On the one hand you are absolutely correct that hiding it has negative effects on awareness/progress. On the other hand it is just so draining to constantly see it. But also queer experience is not something I want to filter out. Sometimes it just seems there is no great solution :(

@justjen there is always nuance. I personally sit on the end of making as many cis people aware as possible.

But also, I don't really have an issue with trans people who do cw it for the sake of others. The gist of my original post is more a message to cis people who have complained about the lack of cw. Even if I did CW It's not for them. They don't get to look away.

@arri
It absolutely is a nuanced topic. I get your position of forcing cisgendered people to be aware. I am just "thinking loudly" about what a possible solution might be to get both desired effects, shielding gender-queer people while making cisgender people aware^^.

Maybe a phobia hashtag could work, but then it makes it super easy to filter out for both groups, so I am not sure what the best way is right now.

@justjen Hashtags might be better. IMHO cis people who specifically filter that out are probably in the "doesn't care at all" category. I think most just won't expand. I'll think about this, thanks for having this discussion with me 🙂
@arri
You are probably right in that those who filter it out wouldn't be the target audience anyway. And same, discourse here feels certainly more human and productive than in many other places I've seen :)
@justjen agreed. I actually think the lack of quote-toots is helping with that. People just have a convo in the replies instead of dragging someone.
