I like mastodon but am concerned about recent developments into moderation practices that appear to target racialized people.
That's not going to work in the long run to build this community into a network of users to rival the giants.
Do I have a solution? Not really.
I don't think it's scalable to ask racialized people to walk on eggshells with self censorship, or CWs, or to do huge amounts of research into which instances are welcoming.
@McCulloch
My best suggestion? Call out the instances in question and their admins, and encourage others to do the same. Instances that show a pattern of racist moderation and don't change course when called on it should be blocked, defederated, and generally rendered irrelevant. Mastonauts in general need to get loud about demanding an inclusive Fediverse, like right now, and shine a bright light on offenders.
@Tunguska
That's a good idea. Daylight is the best medicine.
