I LOVE that today's #GoogleDoodle is the queen of the #seafloor, Marie Tharp β€” who's initial discoveries were dismissed as just "girl talk" but were later accepted as the proof that the continents move!

Coincidentally, she is also my newest art project πŸ₯°β˜ΊοΈ

Progress shot of Marie Tharp's portrait. In love with her resting expression and so glad it is coming through in the painting

@Kachovich omg I love this. Do you plan to offer prints? I'd happily hang one in my office 😁
@geoginger hi :) I am sure once it is done I can do prints. Estimating that it will take me another two weeks to finish
@Kachovich what a lovely portrait of Marie Tharp. And the Google doodle was indeed great. It feels like it takes a Google doodle to actually recognize important work in the sciences by women.

@jacqste you are right, it is so hard to get the recognition of the amazing #WomenInSTEM out into the public spaces. That said, I am so thrilled to see Marie celebrated today. Hopefully, it creates some momentum.

If you haven't already, give this brilliant song about Marie Tharp a whirl today.

@Kachovich This song is great. And I guess I can relate. Although it is getting better.
@Kachovich
I hope we all find someone who looks at us as adoringly as your cat looks at you looking adoringly at Marie Tharp.
