Some have speculated that the justices were naive and didn't get how politics really works.

But this story suggests the opposite: that some justices are politicians in robes who are perfectly comfortable with a system wherein the wealthy and well-connected can buy both access and influence.

@brendan_fischer Many of the things that we tend to instinctively consider bugs in our system of government are actually design features put in there by people with privilege and power.

We are led to think that any systemic problems are the inadvertent side effects of a naive, even idealistic, but at heart well-meaning policy. But reality is often the opposite.
