@Gurre People are ready for a change. They see the value of the twitter communities they have, but they want another place to continue the conversations.
@harmonicarichard i agree on that as the big picture, but such a sudden huge increase of servers? Over 50% increase in a day? We'll see.

@Gurre I think that one of the hosting solutions might have added many more servers. https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/run-your-own/ I see a few solutions are currently not offering new accounts.
@Gurre On Twitter, the times they are a'changing, but in a terrifying manner, on mastodon it's more fun. ;-)
