So I had a quick look at Hive Social but I'm not a fan. It feels more about self promotion than being social, and the "Trending" section is awful. Mastodon is just chilled.

@mikepatterson11 I'm there just to have an account but I can't see myself using it. It's just not very good to engage with people.
