@gosilent hey! I'll be tooting. I've lost trust in the media so running to a platform made for a bunch of journalists that work for the media is not my cup of tea.
This app is not user friendly but... will keep my account here because I don't want to lose all of my "democracy" peeps.

@ShawnathanDC Nods. I haven't decided yet. The UI on Twitter is the best, but I think it's crashing and burning, and I'm sick of reading about Elon and all the RW accounts like MTG. I'm sick to death of all of them. Spoutible looks interesting and I'll be checking that out for sure. I like BotSentinal.

If it weren't for people complaining so much I wouldn't mind but it's too much. I already don't see most of the hate because of bot sentinel and my autoblocker settings. I only really see the vile stuff when someone I follow rts something into my timeline. I can handle MTG if I can handle the war in Ukraine. I've seen some shit on Twitter.
@ShawnathanDC Auto blocker? I'll look for the setting. I don't know him but I like Christopher too. Yea, I follow Ukraine accounts too. I survive with lists so far and I have blocked ads since forever so I rarely see them. I'm getting randos in my timeline because people I follow follow them. It's crazy.
Yea, I have mine set to autoblock problematic accounts, accounts less than 30 days old, accounts with no pictures and a few key words in profiles. Keeps the rif Raf out. (That includes progressives and Bernie Stans)
I've blocked ads since Musk took over. I'm not lining his pockets!
@ShawnathanDC Yea, I mute or block over the top accounts regardless of politics stated. Some people are just out to be influencers and I don't consider them interesting or worth chatting with. I literally detest accounts begging for follows. Be interesting and I will follow, you don't have to ask. 😃
@gosilent exactly. I'm not here for the followers. I'm here for the information and a side bit of entertainment. Thats why I don't follow everyone that follows me. If their account isn't interesting to me I just let them follow me. If they seem to he problematic they get the boot. Lately though I've gotten a lot of request from female porn accounts. I don't know how or why but it's happened in the last 3 weeks. I'm a gay man who follows zero porn accounts.
@ShawnathanDC I think they just look for guys and figure someone will get hooked into their jam. I've had female accounts who I assume are selling something like porn follow me because my handle is ambiguous, and they don't look at the photo. Makes me laugh and then block them. Then there are the creepy guys, who have new accounts and just follow without liking a comment or saying anything. I block most of those too. Honestly anything is better than FB though.
