A dozen years ago, I spoke at a media conference in the Netherlands. They had these badges, which I was dying to sabotage with a tiny “only” after the third word.

Makes sense that if something is a major part of your life, work and identity - who you are, how you became you - you find it interesting. We can all be excused indulgent navel gazing about developments in our own industry.

The same is true of technology.

Media - or technology - is interesting for people who work in media (or technology).

To everyone else it’s necessary. They rely on it. They don’t get to step back and ponder. They’re living it.
