Today has been A Day. The power is out, because of the wind. Dad relies on a BiPap to breathe, but also needs an automatic recliner to get up and down, an electric blanket to stay warm- power is keeping him alive. Called the power company to ask what to do since he’s in the life support list. Their answer? Check the website and call an ambulance if he’s running out of battery. They are under no obligation to help during unplanned outages.

So I called around, found a generator for hire, and went and picked it up. Had to fill up a 20lt petrol tank too, and lift it into the car despite being 34w pregnant, because there was nobody else around to help.
Now I am home and the generator is going and everything is ok, except we have no water because no power= no pump, and my hands smell like petrol and I just want to wash them. A minor annoyance to end the frustrating day.

@erinrileyau you’re a bloody champion, Erin. I’m so grateful your people have you (and you then as they all also sound brill)
