Absolutely loving Andor on Disney+, it does not feel like any Star Wars show or movie I have ever watched.

It is taking seriously the definition of "empire" and "oppression", and how these concepts metastasize to create rebellion.

Not what I expected from this franchise at all.

@poppastring Are they all out yet. I've been waiting so I can binge it
@beached_whale I think the last one is this week 👍🏿
@beached_whale last ep this wedneaday, start binging now!
@beached_whale @poppastring Last one on Wednesday, I think.
@poppastring It may be the best Star Wars… ever (i.e., better than even Empire Strikes Back)?
@poppastring completely agree. I came for the production value - I think Rogue One was an absolutely beautiful film - but I stayed for the writing and complexity. I’ve been overall disappointed in the Mando/Boba/Obi series. Andor really hits the mark for what a good series can look like.
@poppastring I like it a lot, but I really feel it is a plot hole that there is prison labor when they live in world full of robots.
@keith I agree, the only way I could reconcile it is that cruelty and control is the point.
@poppastring sure, but if you are making parts for the death star, surely you want to trust bots, otherwise there is human faults in the parts, and who knows, the whole thing might blow up 👀
@keith @poppastring they address this. They are cheaper than droids and an endless supply. Also hiatorically in star wars universe, the empire comes into being to fight the separatists droid army. Empire (with of course exceptions) is pretty big anti-droid everything.
@poppastring @keith
This is addressed on camera: it’s cheaper.
@poppastring completely agree. One of the best uses of the Star Wars universe.
@dseven @poppastring ok but hear me out, zen: grogu and the dust bunnies
@poppastring Best Star Wars ever.
@contextfree @poppastring
Andor is great and Andy Serkis deserves a fekkin' Emmy!
@poppastring I haven't watched it yet The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi Wan have all been good and have exceeded my expectations so I have high hopes for this one too.
@xanthalas @poppastring It's a bit polarizing. It's less Star Wars Fan Service and more telling a great story in the Star Wars universe. IMO it's the best of the bunch, but plenty of people don't like it because it's not what they're looking for

@poppastring can’t agree more.

It feels like a world war 2 spy drama set In space. Also, I think there is an Interesting subtext about how we build cages for each other over and over again.

@poppastring Episode 6 ("The Eye") completely blew me away. Might be the best of anything Star Wars.
@poppastring best TV Ive watched all year.
@poppastring This is how you sell a show. Now I'm interested.
@poppastring And the DROID. Oh my, Bee (B) is my favorite droid now.
@poppastring It joins its sibling Rogue One at the top of the Star Wars pantheon. A damn shame it has such low ratings.
@poppastring And Andy Serkis was an amazing addition to the cast. Brilliant show.
@poppastring I’m shocked how realistic the revolutionary politics are. It shows the empire not as the “big bad evil entity” but as something run by completely ordinary, though socially powerful, people. And how it destroys communities and cultures.
It’s also just well-written and produced.
After book of boba fett’s politics of “hey kids don’t do drugs” this is incredibly refreshing.
@poppastring It took me a handful of episodes to appreciate the paradigm change, but I also love it! At first I expected the usual doses of fan service, lightsabers, and "Punch it, Chewie!" (of which I also enjoy). Once I acclimated to the storytelling style and the pacing, I appreciated the maturity of the storyline, characters, and commentary. Like Rogue One, I think this is a daring new way to tell a Star Wars story, and a VERY great one at that!
@poppastring im one of those people that watched a new hope and always wondered - how did they build that Death Star and all those star destroyers and now… I know! I am loving this one as well.
@poppastring it has been a refreshing change of pace and I like the slow build and character development that they have been doing. Can't wait for the finale!
