Sorry, I'm a random stranger jumping in here but some people move from mastodon.social because some other smaller instances are blocking it due to it less cohesively moderated. I'm not sure about Brian's reasoning but this is the reasoning I've been telling other newcomers about.
Not the end of the world but something to consider, of course! (Again, so sorry for jumping in, I just like to tell people about this.)
