Some Mastodon tips I've learned:

- You need a fit, young hunting party
- They are not easy to bring down, so make sure your spears have extremely sharp tips
- Ensure you have a supply line and pack animals available to transport the meat and pelt back to the cave

@huff Apparently, also depends on type of Mastodon you're hunting & how long it's co-evolved w/ humans.

It's thought elephants & humans co-evolved over millions of yrs in Africa & instinctively fear humans.

In New World, woolly mammoths didn't co-evolve but only interacted only in the last 10-20K years.

As a result, some researchers believe woollies, being huge, did not instinctively fear humans, and would foolishly wander into human camps, fight back rather than run away, &c. Big mistake.

@huff @Acculation @Lee_in_Iowa 10,000 years is a vanishingly tiny timeframe for evolution. For comparison modern humans have been around for about 200,000 years and that’s still a very tiny timeframe for evolution.
