@brendannyhan thankfully I am seeing this in another country. However, I love my American friends. So I am concerned about the state of democracy. Here in Canada our elections are administered by an independent organization. But I'm sure some of our MAGA larpers will start to question the legitimacy of our elections when it doesn't go their way.

@brendannyhan This should not be surprising, given the lies and stoking of violence egged on by the likes of Kari Lake, Mark Finchem and other RW whack jobs, but it’s still mind blowing [to me]. It is still so horrifying, infuriating and depressing. 7+ years after that obnoxious escalator ride, and every day I still say, “how can this be happening in our country?!” 😔

@brendannyhan I wpuld say you need external (UN) observators to monitor your election. In countries with weak democracies, elections are always contestedand lead to violence or even civil war. It seems some actors would like the USA to go in that direction.
