Fun juxtaposition on Friday. In the day time, I took in the opening of the fabulous new playground and event spaces on City Hall Plaza. Upon returning home that night, I caught the last half of one of my three favorite Boston movies — “The Friends of Eddie Coyle” — the ending of which takes place on City Hall Plaza at its most wintry, desolate, and barren.
@lmandarini While I think the plaza improvements since then are great, I do sometimes miss the Government Center bunker.
@mb The bunker certainly lives large in memory, but it would be a great project to catalogue the history of efforts to improve the space. Too few people these days know the story of the cursed-from-its inception fountain that leaked on to the Blue Line tracks.
@lmandarini Seems like someone must have curated a full history of each iteration *somewhere* — I wonder how detailed of a history Sasaki compiled while designing the latest revisions, if nothing else.
