EvanskiI think the biggest annoyance of this site is that if i want to follow anyone that isnt on the same "server" as me, it wants me to make an account for that server, but that server isnt possible to make accounts for???? So like wtf
Manus@Evanski hmm not sure how you do it, but what I do is when I find someone from other server I just copy his name and on my server instance just put his name to search box and can add him then.

@Evanski Hmm at the very beginning I was frustrated either. Later on I've took on a different approach of not looking for people myself, but just look at profiles people boost or just their followers and this way I find tons of talented people I wanna follow easily without moving between instances. So prob best is to rely on others on this site :D

You don't need to do that, it's just crappy ui
Opening someone in a new tab often opens their profile in this weird public only view that doesn't know you're logged in on you current instance
There's an "advanced timeline" option in settings that makes it tweetdeck-like and seems to have this problem less often
But in non-advanced, I think clicking the name directly to view in same tab gives you a follow-able page
Markus Ewald@Evanski If you look at someone's profile on another server and click "Follow", it should ask you for *your own* account on any server.
You don't need an account on the other server to follow someone there.
The only exception is when you own server's admin has banned the whole other server (can be seen in the "About" page of your server)
