@krisSacrebleu ok that's what I thought - really glad I found you here first tho.
I'm hanging on as I rebuild here, and (provided it doesn't just creak and slide to a halt) I'm going to focus on Mastodon primarily starting in January. I really, really don't need the orange thing in my day. ick.
@krisSacrebleu I was just on the other site looking at something, and people were trying to get the powers that be to close an impostor account. It was pathetic how everyone was impotently begging the corporate overlords for some kind of help, and all they were getting was silence.
Since I've been on here the last three days, I've had numerous conversations with server operators and mods. My sense is that, should there be an issue, it will be trivial to get it resolved.
We've all got Stockholm syndrome, having been on that other site for so long. We need to really introspect, and ask ourselves what we want to create here. We have been disempowered for so long, I don't think we're able to clearly feel what real say in the building of a global town square looks like.
We have much more power here. Choose a server that reflects your values, and then support it in various ways. Get to know your admin and moderation teams. And probably most important, continue the culture of interacting with people as if they are real human beings with feelings.
