Seafront houses in Stromness, #Orkney, with their individual slipways, reflected on a mirrorlike sea.
A calmer day than today!
@Hadenuff I visited Orkney on a day trip back in ‘19 When I go back, I plan to stay longer😁I absolutely loved Orkney💕💖💕
@Marplesmarbles @Hadenuff I did a week
So much to see. Bruised on the ferry up to Westray
@JohnLoader6 @Hadenuff I stayed in Wick(down road from Old Pulteney Distillary. The Harbour chip shop was amazing😋😋😋The taxi to & from John O Groats was the pricy bit(no buses available) ferry over to Orkney, then bus tour through Orkney. Kirkwall, Stromness, Ring of Brogar, Scara Brae, Churchill Barriers, Italian Church. Didn’t want to leave😁
@Marplesmarbles that's how we first came to Orkney, 8 years ago. Did the day trip, fell in love and moved here. Never looked back. 🙂
@Marplesmarbles @Hadenuff Church brilliant. 50 years after creation the original artist returned to tidy the paintings. After his death Highland Park invited his family to help make a new limited edition whisky. They did. It was called Capella. Limited edition and we drank 3 though not all together. Profits I believe went to chapel maintenance
@Marplesmarbles @Hadenuff Wick airport has a spooky claim to fame. It holds the UK record for planes crashing to and from the airport. The place is used by delivery pilots between US and Europe, often single engines. They have to go up the coast of Canada, possibly Greenland and then Wick refuelling everywhere they can. The weather is atrocious in the North Atlantic so many don't make it
@JohnLoader6 @Marplesmarbles Wow, I didn't know that. I'll stick to using Gatwick! 😄
@JohnLoader6 @Hadenuff Wow😳I didn’t even know Wick had an airport! That said. I only recently discovered Cumbernauld had an airport as well! #EveryDayIsASchoolDay
