HELLO FRIENDS! Do you like updates? Here is an update.

I pride myself on running mas.to as a fast and reliable server. Over the last 48 hours it has been slow, lagging hours behind real-time and with periods of downtime. This is not the experience I want for our members!

There was simply no way to anticipate the colossal demand that hit us on Friday. It was huge! We have however now caught up and will monitor the situation. We’ll keep registrations closed for the time being.

@trumpet Thank you for all you’re doing! I know also there are costs, both your time and €/$/£. There’s an ad hoc kofi suggestion in the mas.to About but with the growth in numbers is this enough? What’s needed for the instance to be permanently sustainable?

@stephenserjeant @trumpet Kofi allows monthly recurring donations, as a start! I would be curious how much each member of Mas.to would have to donate to cover average monthly server costs (and some of Trumpets time), though.
