When will UK politicians finally admit that Brexit was a scam which, like all scams, they need to tackle in the public interest?
@RichardJMurphy I’m mystified as to why Labour is so terrified of being an opposition party on this, given the way the polls are going. It was bad enough under Corbyn, who was widely regarded as a closet Leaver. Is Starmer that, too? Or is he running scared of red wall xenophobes? Why can’t pro-Europeans get some representation in Britain?
@LJHblurbsmith @RichardJMurphy I think they actually need to win an election 1st
@droberts639 @RichardJMurphy You campaign on a platform, though. They’re upfront enough about their plans for the House of Lords, for example. Do they really have nothing different to offer re Europe than the Tories? If they do, they should say what it is.
@LJHblurbsmith @RichardJMurphy Its all about timing
@LJHblurbsmith @RichardJMurphy They'll have a threshold of public opinion via polls over a suitable period of time before they press the button much. Personally I'd say it needs to be 75% agreeing that Leave was the wrong decision
@droberts639 @RichardJMurphy Shame that kind of threshold wasn’t required before Leavers lied to the nation, and robbed us of our rights, health and safety safeguards and freedom of movement. If Labour waits for 75%, they may, once again, be outmanoeuvred by the Conservatives, who will make a cynical calculation about what’s popular and where they can pick up the most votes.
@LJHblurbsmith @RichardJMurphy I think Starmer is a bit more cute than people realise
