Why do these awful stories keep happening? The Sunday Times has learned 366 care homes have closed in the year to August with the loss of more than 1,600 beds. The @[email protected] says homes are running with empty beds because they don't have enough staff.

@shaunlintern I am disappointed that these awful stories rarely address the fact that Covid has not gone away.

Covid infection and long Covid are causing high levels of staff absence.

Covid causes vascular, neurological and cognitive problems, this is an added burden to the NHS

I would not return to work in social care while there are no Covid protections.

We must campaign to bring in layered Covid safety precautions.

You indicate yet another reason for the ever increasing staff shortages: besides the covid diseased, disabled and dead, and the ones with a burn out or simply fed up with the huge work pressure, there are also people that are truly conscious of the great risks of getting covid when precautions are utterly lacking.

I sympathise with you.

Only idiots in govt & management are blind to the LT consequences of letting #covid19 rip. #WearAMask #CleanIndoorAir
