It's still a little odd to think: I click on stuff and no one/computer is tracking me. My clicks won't lead to me seeing more posts about Subject X or Person Y. And certainly won't skew the adverts I see.

That is so refreshing and freeing. My boosts and favorites won't lead to an algorithm-increased echo chamber.

@pwc That's exactly why I ditched the other social media platforms.

Not to be too cynical, but I'm a bit concerned that this platform with be bought out at some point in the future and we'll all be back where we started.

@JamesJollay I suppose someone could start offering server admins $1mil for their instance, but the great thing about the architecture is people can jump ship from that instance to another if they don’t like how the moron is running the instance.

I guess there is could be a coordinated buy out, but knowing that this place is peopled with those who expressedly don’t want someone like that in charge, the ROI would be low.

We are no longer the product.
