@MrCompletely that's great news, thanks Mr. C. You might need to give a few of us, specifically me, instructions on how to move my newly federated ass over there.
@Ludicculus minor differences if any. I think it's good to have multiple options to spread the load out across servers. That's part of the design convept of the fediverse
@Ludicculus also tbh we just kinda want to try it and see. Open source community projects are fun for a certain kind of person. It's a cooperative not competitive thing... If this is gonna work we want to have options
@MrCompletely Im very curious to see how the server (instance?) model evolves. I see the upsides but it’s also more fractured than what we had on Twitter. Not quite sure that’s all good yet.
@Ludicculus absolutely - in theory the decentralization should be much more upside than down, but in practice? We'll see. I'm interested and optimistic at the moment but there are many ways it could go wrong
@MrCompletely I was listening to a podcast that was linked in a thread Steve Silberman posted and one of the hosts had a good point. Twitter is chaotic but it really allowed marginalized voices to be heard in an unprecedented way. It seems to me decentralization takes some of that away. Potentially.
