🏳️🌈🖖🏽I don’t understand why people think Mastodon is difficult. It seems pretty straightforward, and the separate servers are no biggie. I’m enjoying this fresh start here, like moving to a new apartment!

killwrathy@OneJaeAtATime @georgetakei Yeah the federal system seems to work really well. The better server admins encourage the other servers to moderate crap like that too - servers that don't moderate hate speech and other bigotry properly get blacklisted. It is very democratic.

Stephan@georgetakei Same for me. However, as in a new apartment, the light switch for the bathroom may be on the other side of the door. That's unfamiliar at first, but one gets used to it. 😃

I've seen a lot of posts here & elsewhere saying that #mastodon is not the same as #twitter, the UI is not as user friendly, it's difficult to follow etc. Remember when you first signed up to twitter/ Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn? We learnt the way they worked. That #mastodon is NOT twitter is certainly a good thing imho. And the coolest thing about this #fediverse is that people are nice & ready to help. @socflyny @georgetakei You can move one of them to the other - which will move your followers too and create a redirect from the old one to the new one, if you go to Preferences > Account > Account Settings.
You will have to do it on both of your accounts. On the old one which you want to move from you will have to click "Move to a different account" and follow the instructions. On the one you want to keep you need to click "Moving from a different account" instead.

Lenslok ♾🦋@georgetakei I think it’s probably at least in part due to the timing - there’s been a mass migration of people jumping ship from the Tweetanic, and (as I understand it, I’m still a masto n00b) many of these servers are moderated and maintained by individuals in their spare time. Great to see another familiar face on here!
