"Did you still want to head to Stacy's today?"
Bill's question fell short of its target. Jess was gone, her ears sealed shut. She was gripped in the thralls of emotional romance. As the ink on the pages described the trying of two eager bodies, she began to fondle the handle of the toaster.
"Hey, babe?"
Babe was much too weak of a word to peel her from the bedroom in her mind. If he wanted her attention, he would have to take it.
