I'm also not really interested in fortune telling FWIW, but I am interested in narrative and what makes compelling believable stories in human brains.
You take this random selection of cards dealt into a spread, and looked at with human eyes, through human interpretation, it turns into this compelling chronicle that people believe reveals some truth.
Which all comes from their own brain. I think that can teach a lot about what brains are doing to interpret the world around them and how myth and legends are formed and improved.
So as a writer I like all that, and the cards are a good selection of pointers at things from the set of all possible things that have evolved through memetic selection to be woven into narratives that work well with human mind and story.
