hi wonderful people

i know a lot of folks are detoxifying and the birdsite incentives sometimes made it seem like only posting your own stuff was wise. Maybe never boosting others over there made sense.

It's different here. Here, #PeopleAreTheAlgorithm

Which means, if you interact with me, and I look at your profile and it's full of yourself. Well...kinda speaks for itself.

Boosting others here helps re-knitting lost and creating new networks of care. Be generous and share your discoveries.

@christina But also, a PSA: Boost responsibly.

If people find that their timeline is filled with boosts from one or two people, and the quality of the boosts is low, it’s no better than Twitter’s terribly algorithm that shoved random tweets into the timeline and notifications.

And most people don’t know they can mute an individual’s boosts (especially since most apps don’t seem to implement this yet), so they’re more likely to unfollow to cut down on the noise.
