Mastodon.lol is expensive to operate -- we've got servers, outbound email, translation, media storage, backup storage, monitoring. We're entirely community funded so if you're in a position to financially support the site please consider it!

We don't have ads, we don't track you or sell your data, we don't charge for features, and we don't even get paid to run it. All Patreon donations go towards operational costs, nothing more.

@DavidLotsOfDogs It won't happen, ever. It's not technically possible due to Mastodon's federated/open source approach, and it wouldn't be accepted by the larger Mastodon community due to it going against what Mastodon stands for. Even all those things out of the way, the community is more than happy to fund the operation of the site so ads aren't needed.
