One of my favorite recurring activities on the bird site was sharing Bandcamp music recommendations. Bandcamp Friday (when the website waives the fees for artists) is 2 weeks away, so let’s try this at a leisurely pace.

What’s a new Bandcamp release you’ve really enjoyed? Post your recommendation in the replies. Open to all genres and styles, but looking especially for ones that the usual websites haven’t publicized.

I really enjoy Bonnie Trash, a goth rock duo (sisters!) from Ontario. Goth isn't usually my thing, but they keep it simple (e.g., favoring that "Be My Baby" beat), torchy, and rockin'.

Another Bandcamp album I've been returning frequently to is Spectral, the latest by Madeleine Cocolas. Emotional, unsettling ambient drone music layered over intimate piano/guitar figures and field recordings.

@leonardnevarez Have you heard The Leaf Library? I've fallen for them really hard; It's like all my favorite things about early Stereolab, Yo La Tengo, Broadcast, Low, and The Clientele all mixed together.

They're pretty prolific, but this new "B-Sides and such" compilation they released last month is particularly good and serves as a good intro to them.

@brianpjcronin I love the Leaf Library! They definitely fill the void of Stereolab and Broadcast. I got this and a whole lot of whole bunch of their other releases while waiting for a proper follow-up to The World Is A Bell.
