A dude that harassed a fellow woman in tech earlier this year has now turned his attention to me.

I blocked him on Twitter because of his behaviour to that woman.

He reached out to my Instagram and wondered why I had blocked him.

I blocked him on Instagram.

I woke up to him messaging me on Facebook and email yesterday.

Each message has progressively got more aggressive and threatening.

Today I have woke up to more emails.

This is NOT okay behaviour folks!

@Techielass why do people wonder why these things happen when they have zero privacy enabled online?

His behavior surely isnt okay, but there are ways to protect against this.

@Anachron What exactly do you want me to do? Shut down my social media profiles?

@Techielass make profiles private? Restrict contact possibilities for unknown people?

Why do we handle the internet so differently when it comes to privacy? Or do you also gives each random stranger your home and work address?

@Anachron @Techielass why should Sarah have to go incognito online when the problem is the way this man treats women? A man that is a “public figure” usually don’t often experience these situations, but women do. It’s like how female gamers have to use male names and don’t talk over voice when gaming, because if they indicate that they are women they get verbally abused. This is not a privacy issue, and it won’t be fixed by avoiding it.

@robstr @Techielass ok I am curious, how would you fix this problem? How long will that take?

I havent claimed a fix for the issue but a short workaround because a fix is neither fast nor easy.
