I just ordered over 20 rare photos from a second hand bookstore in Chongqing when getting some new Chinese books. The photos were taken by university students around 2000-2002 right before the Three Gorges Dam was built and attempted to document old buildings and sites along the Yangtze that were important to Chinese history, folklore, and cultural traditions and would soon disappear underwater.

I grew up along the Yangtze so I feel a lot of nostalgia for the region. But also I am really excited to have been able to stumble across these photos that had been collected by a used bookstore in Wanzhou and to help preserve and hold onto this piece of vanishing history. #history
