Question. I am here on mastodon.social, which is quite fine. But I am wondering if there is a better instance for me? I'm not a full time law prof, so the new lawprof instance isn't quite right. I do infosec, but I'm not an infosect professional so that seems wrong. Is there a national security law or natsec policy instance around? I am not sure I want to change but I'm thinking about it ...

@RosenzweigP

A neat feature (in case you didn't know) is that you can move to a different instance and your followers will move with you.

So there's no rush to find a new instance.

@kdvncm Thanks. I'm not hurrying .. but I am exploring ... it's a new neighborhood ...

@kdvncm @RosenzweigP

ooc - if you migrate an account to a different instance, does it carry your followers with you?

@gtconway3dg

it appears that way assuming everybody's instance support the features.

Jeff Jarvis was talking the possibility that an instance (eg a newspaper) could turn off the feature to prevent journalists (that use the newspaper's instance) from building a personal following that could be moved away from the newspaper.

See attached image and this link that includes documentation on moving accounts
