I want to like Mastodon. I really do! But the fact that it takes ages to load anything and keeps telling me I have three new notifications while they're the same notifs I already had two days ago is bugging me a bit.... That and who'll answer me here?? It feels like screaming into the avoid... Like it does on Tumblr.

Please Twitter, don't die!

@ReyKryze You're screaming into the void because you're not using tags.

So the only people who can read your toots are Local surfers, like me.

@crittero thank you for the information but what are "local surfers"? For example if I want my 4 followers to see what I post, do I have to use tags?

@ReyKryze No. If they follow you. Your posts will appear on their Home page.

A "Local surfer" is someone who "surfs" on the Local tab (that's a timeline of all posts from your server, in chronological order).

The thing is, you cannot search post based only on text, and Mastodon won't "recommend" you posts.

@Jensau26 I actually despised Twitter for years, I didn't see the appeal of it! 😂 I'll probably get used to Mastodon as well with time, especially if I can find my friends...
