Fans of the remarkable Susan Cooper classic, “The Dark is Rising” have a real treat in store: BBC radio drama is set to start in a month. Script was adapted by a True Fan of the novel and it promises to be excellent. Here’s link to 6-minute promo. When they sing the “The Dark is Rising” poem at the end I literally got scalp-prickles. @Kayray @melissawiley I first read the entire series translated into German when I was about Will's age in "The Dark is Rising". So many cultural references I didn't understand - shards of secrets adding to the mystery of the story. But I loved all the poems, prophecies and songs, so very much. And the Welsh parts in the later volumes.

@coremi yes! As a little American girl there was a lot that went over my head too. Oh man I’d kill for a German translation now — es wäre solche güte Übung!
