Having mourned for many years the demise of the fish and chip van that used to come to our village, a new one has arrived. Every fortnight on a Friday, parks just by our back gate. Hallelujah!
@simonblackwell Congratulations on your happy news.
@simonblackwell this is a Twitter / Mastodon metaphor, yes?
@simonblackwell Result! Chip vans are the best ☺️
@simonblackwell but is it a real chippy van, does it have gravy?
@simonblackwell how lovely, but I’d have to buy a size larger clothes
@simonblackwell we have a fantastic chippie van here in #cumbria and I think they deserve to be shared https://www.thechippievan.co.uk/

The Chippie Van
@simonblackwell I thought this was a metaphor for the demise of the bird
@simonblackwell when we moved down to rural Bucks from Brum 26 years ago, new neighbours took great delight in telling us about the WI, the shop and pubs in the village, and that the chip van stopped outside our house on a Saturday night! Bingo!
@simonblackwell These are great news for your village. Congrats 👏
@simonblackwell I was cock-a-hoop when our village ex-servicemen’s club got a lick of paint. And now this. How the other half live!
@simonblackwell The next village over has one that parks on the green of a Friday evening - before the pandemic I'd time my cycle home from the office to coincide with its arrival, then whizz down the hill with steaming saddlebags - spring roll and chips for me, and a sausage for my four-legged housemate.
