keep seeing posts with way more boosts than likes. do y'all not like over here? how do you think people know you like their posts
i don't like posts expecting it to ~increase visibility~?? do people do that on twitter?? i like posts because i like them and there is a button for that

@eevee Twitter started interpreting Likes as Heisenberg Retweets a while ago. If you use the official website, you'll find a smattering of others' likes in your timeline.

They also started counting quote-retweets as regular retweets at random, so "look at this doofus" quote dunks became unadorned retweets into timelines. Again, this only happens via twitter dot com

@directhex i know how twitter works; what i am baffled about is how /people/ work. i cannot imagine deliberately using the like button as a soft retweet
@eevee I guess if your only experience of the service is via the site, that ambiguity might just be part of your usage model? Like "yeah, that's cool, I don't mind my followers seeing that" vs "Y'ALL LOOK AT THIS"
