1. Religious freedom means you can either practice any religion you want or no goddamn religion at all.
2. Religious freedom does not mean you can use your beliefs to dictate what others can and cannot do.

Your religion guides you, not all of us. It’s as simple as that.

@Strandjunker I absolutely judge people by their religious lifestyle choices. The #bible god explicitly threatens multiple times to torture and massacre everyone who chooses not to worship him. Anyone choosing that deity/religion is not a good person. Full stop.
@TheStormcrow @Strandjunker
Unfortunately most people don't choose, it can take a brave person to reject religion in a large part of the world. Most probably never even think about the alternatives.
@TheStormcrow @Strandjunker I’d go a little further. Any religion that preaches that it’s the only path to salvation and any other non-believers must be converted to that path is harmful to others. It’s adherents believe it is their business to interfere with the lives of those others.
@CuriousMind @TheStormcrow @Strandjunker that would forbid most political parties, because everyone thinks their "path" is the only one and all others need to be changed. I would argue that a lot of political parties take their views to a level of religion.
Disclaimer: I don't know enough about US politics, but lived in different countries e.g. communist UDSSR
@Strandjunker yes! I wish more people understood this!
@Strandjunker Yep, but it gets a little sticky when someone's religion instructs them to proselytize. If we could just get past the inclination to make up stuff about what we don't know, and pay more attention to what we do know, we just might find what we need.
@ArrowbearMoore @Strandjunker “if you try sometimes, you just might find…”

@Strandjunker Your statement, while expressing something I personally agree with, is an ironic contradiction. It could be restated as "You are not free to have a religion that requires adherents to evangelise.

#religion

@Oozenet @Strandjunker Exactly. Things are barely ever that simple. Especially when it comes to religion.
(I wish they were, but they aren't.)
@Strandjunker @Oozenet
One can evangelize (spread the word) without dictating how people must behave. This is a false choice.
@Strandjunker from your mouth to Alito’s, Thomas’, Gorsuch’s, Kavanaugh’s, Coney Barrett’s & Robert’s ears.

@[email protected] Love it!

Freedom of religion, and freedom from religion.

@Strandjunker And the people who are least likely of all to have "religious freedom" are the children of religious parents.
@Strandjunker
Similarly, if you think freedom of speech, or the right to free assembly, or the right to vote should only apply to people who think like you, you really don't believe in those rights at all.
Trying to get me to be a Christian by telling me me how hot Hell is is like trying to scare me by telling me how sharp the Boogeyman's claws are. It's only going to work if I already believe in Hell.
@Strandjunker it also means you can be a decent person while not adhering to any specific doctrine
@Strandjunker I 💙 this sooo much because it’s true & FACTS matter! Thank you 🙏🏼
