Does anyone care about the shiny space future (with millions of normal people in space) any more, or just Earth politics?
@Robotbeat I am 10,000% invested in making a cis-lunar economy happen!
@PhotonEmpress @Robotbeat Same. I'm 1000% onboard with getting our species off-world in our lifetime.
@jaredhead @PhotonEmpress @Robotbeat There are a few billion people around I'd love to leave behind ealier than later! 😜
@Dres @jaredhead @PhotonEmpress I actually like all these people, personally. Great thing about space travel is as we improve the cost and efficiency, space settlement will allow us to expand the number of people and cultures without additional impact on the Earth. The end point of rocket technology is ability to leave Earth with the same energy cost as just going to another continent today. We can have our cake and eat it, too…
@Robotbeat @PhotonEmpress @Dres Likewise! Even people I don’t like deserve the uplift in their lives that a major move off-world could, and should, provide to all who want it.
@Robotbeat Both? Can I care about both?
@SkipHuffman You can care, but politics is kind of zero sum. It’s necessary but it can be a massive distraction to positive-sum. We need to BUILD.

@Robotbeat

I care. Very much. The stars are our destiny. We must expand or go extinct.

At the mo, though, there is an existential fight for freedom (vs authoritarianism and nuclear sabre rattling) going on that is taking a lot of the world's attention, and rightly so.

The sooner Ukraine utterly prevails, the better for all of us.

(Musk is not 100% helping this fight, as you and I discussed elsewhere)
