jesse jarnow@MrCompletely would definitely migrate when it's possible to bring one's existing posts, which sounds like it's technically possible but requires direct intervention from the server operator. or maybe embrace it, burn this, & move anyway.
@bourgwick I definitely see the value in having an interest or subject focused server; your Local feed is then dedicated to that topic. Then your Home feed can be your follows across all servers, but Local will basically be your shared interest. It's a good architecture
@MrCompletely yeah, it sounds fun to me to be on an interest specific one, or even just one with cool specific improved features, ala better search or useful built-in bots or archiving functions or idk what.
john lehet@bourgwick @MrCompletely I couldn’t decide on interest-specific vs general, and in the end it seemed that a broader community would be good, more discovery of a bigger world. You can silo with lists if you want. I think the most important thing right now is that one’s server isn’t always swamped.
