@danielleolavario It doesn't mater that much because all servers are connected. You reach the Fediverse (all active accounts across all Mastodon servers) through the Federated link.

Where is might matter is the Local link, this is where you see posts in real time on your own server. If you have signed up for a server that has folks of your interest group, you can be stoked.
