Folks, allow me to introduce our Framework Lead Software Engineer, @zachfeldman

So excited to see co-workers here!

@matthartley thanks for the intro! So glad to have you on the team :).

Hello to the fosstodon community. I'm a Lead Software Engineer at Framework primarily working on the Marketplace and website at https://frame.work in Ruby/Rails/Solidus/Tailwind/Stimulus frameworks. I also do a little bit of Linux testing, primarily on Ubuntu (currently running the Jammy Jellyfish as my daily driver). Glad to answer any questions I can or help out the community!

Framework

@zachfeldman @matthartley

Amazing piece of hardware! I got my framework in September and absolutely love it. I used my last computer for almost 9 years without any upgrades so I am definitely looking forward to having a machine that ages better with time.

I am very excited about the upcoming bios update for full thunderbolt support, something other vendors would hold back so you buy next year's model.

Using Linux on my framework, works great!

Cheers!

@gurumitts @matthartley So glad you like it! What Linux distro are you using?
@zachfeldman Distro hopping at the moment. Used Pop OS and Ubuntu before for the longest time and really liked them, especially Pop OS. Currently on Fedora 37 its pretty nice too. Would like to give Arch or Manjaro a try over the holidays and then pick one (probably Pop OS) as my daily driver early next year. How do you like Ubuntu? Dose it work well for all your Ruby dev work?

@gurumitts nice PopOS is pretty cool too! Some people on our team seem to really like Manjaro so seems worth trying.

Ubuntu is great for me just feels rock solid with very seamless daily operation. I like that if you do have a problem there's a huge community around it. Great for Rails dev - we have a script to bootstrap a dev environment in like 20 minutes that runs super well on Ubuntu.
