Can I tell you a fun story? It's a little braggy, but it's also about the power of journalism, so, indulge me.

In his latest (sadly subscriber-only) newsletter, @[email protected] writes about @[email protected], the new system of satellites meant to track GHGs.

Opinion | The Global Carbon Surveillance State Is Coming

The conventional picture of climate change and what is causing it is about to change.

It's a pretty amazing thing: satellites that can track real-time greenhouse-gas emissions down to the facility level. Basically, it's going to moot most "measurement & verification" issues -- no one will be able to hide or dissemble about the GHGs they're emitting.
As @[email protected] writes in a piece about Climate Trace, one of its biggest & most enthusiastic backers is @[email protected], who has raised money for it (and helped fund it through his own Generation Management). https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-11-09/world-s-co2-hotspots-pinpointed-by-al-gore-backed-climate-project?leadSource=uverify%20wall
Gore is responsible for elevating this thing from a promising research effort to a full-fledged global project. But how did Gore find out about it? Roston: "Gore read an article about it, contacted them to see how many other sectors might be included, and Climate Trace was born."
An article, you say? What kind of handsome & talented journalist would recognize the significance of this research so early? Let's have a look: https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2019/5/7/18530811/global-power-plants-real-time-pollution-data
Air pollution from every single power plant in the world, tracked

Satellite data plus artificial intelligence equals no place to hide.

@drvolts I am happy to boost this not so humble brag. You’ve earned it.
