I love George Takei and I wish him the best always, but I don't need to recreate Twitter here. I'm good. I'm not looking to follow people who are building an audience here. I'm looking to connect with people I can build a community with. I'm going to do what I can to not fall into the trap of the audience/celebrity relationship on this site.
@joehumphrey Gotta say that I agree with you on this point. I mean, it's nice that some of our more rational-minded celebs are making their presence known here (can the rest be far behind, though 😨?). I'd much rather be a part of a creative, vital, and (yes) useful online community that inspires and fosters intelligent discussion amongst folks who are NOT celebrities. Also, yes -- an exception must be made for Elvira. Always 🦇 .
@WillderBeast There are definitely creative people who are famous that I would follow here, because I want to know what they're up to. Mike Flannagan, GDT, Stephen King... but honestly, I don't really have the interest in participating in being one of tens of thousands of people yelling into the wind
@joehumphrey Oh, the minute Bernard Cornwell shows up here, I'll be following him 😂
@joehumphrey Truth be told, my particular field -- paleontological/archeological documentaries -- sports very few celebrities, per se. So when I mention that I'm a bit more fascinated by those unsung folks working in the trenches, I'm being rather literal ⛏️ 🤣😂
