It's Trans Awareness Week, and I think back to the Black Trans Flag, the dominance of whiteness in this queer space, and the lack of care white ppl have for their Black queer siblings
I've been here for years, let's go down memory lane

#BlackMastodon #TransAwarenessWeek

I posted this flag on July 14, 2020. It didn't end well. From my archive, I can at least post my responses to ppl being angry with me about the flag

"I don't understand. The black bar just adds adds a space for visibility for black trans and non binary folks. I seem to understand that non binary for white ppl has to be the bar. And that extra visibility for Blk folks means there's non for non binary aka white ppl. It's not a zero sun game and also like is said in the post... I didn't design it"

@CaribenxMarciaX I don’t get those people… yes, the white bar in the trans flag represents nonbinary people but why can’t black also stand for nonbinary? A bar in a flag can have multiple meanings, and there is a black bar in the nonbinary flag for a reason.
@CaribenxMarciaX (of course the real reason they say shit like that is because they’re racist, but that goes without saying)
@enby_of_the_apocalypse @CaribenxMarciaX I've had to ""identify"" with that white bar for years; white people can ""identify"" with that black bar for years too!
