A tip for NEW USERS from the bird site.

Please don't auto-crosspost from there to here. The conversation and posts are mainly disjointed and lack context.

If you do, please definitely don't cross-post your RT's. It's like, ugh. 😠

Tip for new Mastodon peeps: add a filter to get rid of RT's.

Settings>Filters> "RT @"

Bee free of the RT! 🤗

#twittermigration

@is_Richardson even when I was there, turning off retweets was the first thing I did when following someone. It’s what made things more pleasant.

@is_Richardson When I migrated from Facebook to Twitter I put in an auto-repeater for my FB posts. Eventually I came to a point where I realized I wasn’t really using Twitter right and that’s why it wasn’t making sense to me.

Once I started actually spending more time on Twitter rather than FB and developed my own voice, then it made more sense, I enjoyed it more, and I’m sure anyone following me was less annoyed at the auto-posts.

Same will happen here I think.

@chrisale Yep, I think you're right. It means people do have to try and post here rather than dump auto-posts here though. It's certainly more engaging!
@is_Richardson ...so, I'm not the only one this annoys? The problem is: there are often valuable nuggets contained within those cross-posts. Native, FTW. Is there a client filter, perhaps? Eons ago, some Twitter apps had a feature wherein you could ignore any message posted from, say, Foursquare.
