Hi New followers! What brings you joy? What sets you on fire? What do you pour your life in to?
(This is the part where you respond. It's a conversation, not a broadcast.)
@ajroach42 I declined to respond so as not to bum anyone out, sorry.
@ajroach42 seriously the toughest questions. Almost nothing for me. I like to tinker and dabble, but I don't have any passions to wake me up in the morning and invite me to work towards

@ajroach42

extremely papa roach voice

pour my life into bottle
it's now called "Sundog Port"
heady flavor, not bitter
under ten bucks if you give up twitter

@ajroach42 Sadly...

I don't know anymore. COVID did a number on me, I think, but getting better.

I'd really like to try my hand at writing again, given the winter coming, so I suppose I could say that's what is setting me slightly ablaze right now.

@ubergeek What kind of writing?

@ajroach42 short story/novelette dystopic fiction.

Have an idea, but no idea where to start, given my past attempts ended with me writing myself into a hole, plotwise

@ubergeek oh, neat. I hope you're able to resolve that.

@ajroach42 Here are some highlights:

- I have a set of addressable RGB LED strips in my living room and their Python code is a sort of perpetual project
- I converted a cheap mountain bike into a fat tire electric trike a few years ago and have been rehabilitating it
- Trying to learn Godot. Got a project in mind and if it makes more traction I might pour all of my time into it
- Running a masto server has been fun lately
- Discovered recently that I can almost draw well, so enjoying that too

@ajroach42 Not a new follower, but we haven't spoken in a while. Things change and things stay the same.

- Old cars, especially small ones. Bonus points if the manufacturer no longer exists.

- Old computers and palmtops. I like to make old things do new stuff.

- Scale modeling, mostly trains. I've recently been 3d printing and scratch building models.

- Aquariums, fish, and invertebrates. I love having a slice of nature in a box, antithesis to the tech in the rest of my life.

@ajroach42 communities enjoying themselves together unexpectedly; strangers being formed into community by wonder-full art/music/comedy; kids saying the most profound thing in a church service; people realising they’re great at something and are appreciated; knowing I’m loved cos I’m made this way and there’s a me-shaped hole in the universe…
@ajroach42 My kids, my dog, my side projects, and - luckily enough - my work...
@ajroach42 Experiencing something completely new and enjoying it, and reveling in the big wide world we live in.

@ajroach42 great question, ive spent a long time tinkering with different things I don't know whats really my "thing"

right now at least ive been really into writing though
